Iraqi Police Protest in Najaf

Almost 2000 IP’s protested yesterday outside the home of Ayatollah Sistani in Najaf and accused the Finance, Interior & Education ministries of not respecting them as employees. The police that were involved all work for the education ministry and are all bodyguards for the schools in Najaf and its surrounding villages.

They accused General Adnan Ahmed Al-Khafagi, Jalal Mohammed Ameen and General Wajeeh of being involved in corruption and it comes after the IP’s had their wages cut. They blame the interior ministry for the cause of this corruption.

One of the banners they held up read “Cut our throats, but not our wages".

Proposed Iraqi National Anthem

Here is a proposed National Anthem. Recited by Kadhim Al-Sahir, the most famous Iraqi singer, and one of the most famous Arab singers in the world.

This is a rough translation:

"Peace on you, (peace) on your supporters, valuable Iraq;
You are the shrine, fort and house of all blessings" x2

"Here the glorious prayed, fasted and made pilgrimage to the house of peace;
So Baghdad writes her greatest glory, and her pen will never dry"

"Peace on you, (peace) on your supporters, valuable Iraq;
You are the shrine, fort and house of all blessings" x2

"Peace to the land which gives, and whose perfume is the blood of the maryters which floods;
This is Hussain, and this is Kerbala, from this it became a tongue and mouth"

"Peace on you, (peace) on your supporters, valuable Iraq;
You are the shrine, fort and house of all blessings" x2

"Iraq the knowledge, and river of literature, will stay as heritage for all the Arabs;
The glory will stay like a mother and father, the crown of love for the best of nations"

"Peace on you, (peace) on your supporters, valuable Iraq;
You are the shrine, fort and house of all blessings" x2

"Assyria and Babylon, a promise of glory to civilisations and prophets;
It is proud to carry the name of the God of the heavens , to stay as our most expensive and dearest flag"

"Peace on you, (peace) on your supporters, valuable Iraq;
You are the shrine, fort and house of all blessings" x2

The current National Anthem is "Mawtani/My homeland"

Saddam Execution...Coming Soon

I have a good feeling about this, the prosecution delivered its final statement to the Judge Ra'oof Abdul Rahman, and the chief prosecuter Ja'fer Mousawi said "The prosecution demand that the court impose the heaviest penalties on those defendants who spread corruption on earth and where not even trees escape their oppression, so we demand the court impose the death penalty,"

The defence will deliver their last remarks on July 10th, and afterwards the Judge will pass out the sentence...Saddam, Barzan, Ramadhan & Bander could all face death by hanging if they are found guilty. The Iraqi Presidential council will have to sign and they should all be hanged within 30 days.

I am certain they will all get the death penalty, and their deaths will bring relief to the hundreds of thousands if not millions of Iraqi's who have lost their loved ones in the genocide & slaughter that went on for over 3 long bloody decades during the Ba'ath party regimes terror in which no Iraqi was shown even the most basic human rights or mercy.

A world where Saddam Hussain is in a grave is a better world for everyone.

General Security Directorate

We all heard Jordan talking about its role in the operation that killed Zarqawi and how their intelligence helped kill him, but it was very interesting to hear the Iraqi Prime Minister in a recent press conference stating that it was "Iraqi intelligence that played the biggest role in the operation and it was Iraqi agents and security personnel that passed on the vital information to the American forces" that led to Zarqawi's death.

I think that this is a good sign and maybe just the beginning of many great things to come from the Iraqi intelligence. The Americans had been hunting Zarqawi down for a very long time and for the Iraqi's to find him first is great news.

After Bremer disbanded the Iraqi military and security services, including the Mukhabarat (intelligence agency), Dr Iyad Allawi set up the General Security Directorate (Mudiriyat al-Amn al-Amma). The Iraqi intel agency was previously called the Iraqi National Intelligence Service (INIS) in March 2004. The Americans gave over $3 billion from secret funds to this agency.

Iraq's intelligence chief, is General Mohammed Abdullah Mohammed al-Shehwani. He has recently publicly criticised PM Malaki's idea of integrating militias into the Iraqi security forces.

General Shehwani has also previously accused the Iranian embassy in Baghdad of helping SCIRI's Iranian-trained and Iranian-financed Badr Brigade in an assassination campaign that saw 18 of his agents killed. SCIRI counter-charged that Iraqi agents were targeting its members simply because they are Shia.

Another very interesting thing I noticed is that when PM Malaki was asked "Do you have control over the Iraqi intelligence?" he simply ignored the question.

The GSD's mission is to "infiltrate and annihilate Iraq's tenacious insurgency". I wish them all the best.

Zarqawi Sent to Hell

It still hasnt sunk in, this is probably one of the best days in Iraq's history after the capture of Saddam Hussain.

For the Iraqi's, here's a song I know you will love...Zarqawi

Ahmad Fadhil al-Khalayleh aka Abu Mus'ab al-Zarqawi, has finally been sent to hell.

The only down side to his death is that it was too quick...It should have been a slow painful death.

Trigger Happy IP's

I couldn't believe this when I first saw it. An ambulance driver approaches an Iraqi police man who shouts "Awgaf, Awgaf" ("Stop!, Stop!") and when the driver stops, the IP's drag out the driver and passenger, and repeatedly punch and kick him. One IP even hits him on the back of his head with the butt of his pistol. As if thats not enough, the IP who keeps punching him aims his gun at his leg and shoots him. When the driver is on the floor, the IP runs up to him and kicks him hard in the face. Clearly, the driver was unarmed and posed no threat to the numerous IP's who were armed with pistols and AK-47's, I simply cannot understand why the IP's acted like this. God Help Iraq!
