My article in today's Guardian:
"Moqtada al-Sadr has finally returned to Najaf in Iraq after almost four years of self-imposed exile. Senior Sadrists claimed that the reason he left Iraq was to continue his theological studies in Iran. However, there was another thorny issue behind his absence: Sadr is still wanted by the Iraqi judiciary for his alleged involvement in my father's murder eight years ago." [More...]
I also gave an interview to al-Sharq al-Awsat, which was later translated.
The real tragedy is that Moqtada and his men have killed thousands of innocent Iraqis and yet there exists only one arrest warrant with his name on it. There should be an arrest warrant issued to him and his thugs for every single Iraqi whose blood their hands are stained with.

at the end of the day i heard mo8tada say hellow habibi right? what a joke :S
How useful will it be for Iraq to arrest Moqtada al-Sadr? We have all seen the mass of people who gathered in Najaf upon the return of Moqtada al-Sadr. Can someone deny the popularity of Sadr in Najaf and Karbala? What will be there reaction if Sadr is arrested?
I think it would lead to the following:
- the new government will face great difficulties to survive;
- in shia areas there will be big uprisings and big protests to release Sadr;
- Sayyed Moqtada will be more popular then ever.
Chihad: Speculations about what may happen if al-Sadr were arrested, even if true, should not prevent justice from prevailing in the new Iraq. I do think, however, that the possibility of unrest or of increasing al-Sadr's popularity (especially if he were to be released without prosecution) should mean not arresting him unless the government is serious about prosecuting him on charges of murder, and seeking justice.
Al-Sadr is back in Iran?? So fast?

Ashaarq Alawsat reports that Al-Sadr has returned to Iran in a hurry.
Apologies if this seems like an advertisement. I'm just ticked off about innocent people dying in Iraq due to being sold fraudulent bomb detectors by unscrupulous UK companies. Trying to get Iraqi bloggers to pay attention so we can put an end to it. http://reasonablydoubtingnews.blogspot.com/2011/02/selling-death-fraudulent-bomb-detectors.html
That's another success story in his life that he might be proud of what was his experiences.
Sorry brother but your vision of Sayyed Moqtada is very off. He is the only person resisting the US occupation and you turn around and abuse him?
I don't know if you have noticed by Sayyed Moqtada is very popular in Iraq and his popularity will continue to grow as long as he continues on his righteous path.
May Allah bless him and grant him and his movement victory.
just afraid that mutada will do some more stupidities by combinig with ba'athists..
