The Shia should condemn oppression everywhere

My latest article published yesterday in the Guardian.

"Shia Muslims across the world constantly invoke the memory of the battle of Kerbala, because in our belief this epitomises standing up to oppression and injustice. It is crucial to note that they may not necessarily have a sectarian agenda in doing so – the horrific slaughter of the prophet's grandson, along with his children, is etched into our memory at a very young age and symbolises an eternal fight against tyranny – but what good is this conscience if we deliberately ignore the fundamental significance of that battle? Specifically that we must stand up to oppression wherever and whenever it takes place, and at all costs" [More...]

Boy are you for real?!

Now I'm neither a Shia nor a Muslim but I am an Iraqi.

To compare the unarmed peaceful demonstrators in Bahrain to the Libyan Rebels who are affiliated with alqaida is an insult. Aside from terrorists from Saudi Arabia, Libya has had the highest number of foreign jihadists sent to Iraq to slaughter Iraqis particularly Iraqi Shia. At one point Libyan rebels from Benghazi surpassed the number of Saudi terrorists operating in Iraq. This is especially sick because Libya is pretty far from Iraq, showing just how passionate these dogs are. The rebels are not pro democracy they are fighting because they want to create a salafi state in Libya. They are armed, dangerous and use suicide car bombs as their tactics to fight Qaddafi. They will get no sympathy from me and any Iraqi who shows the sympathy within my reaching distance better becareful. Furthermore, they are already getting international aid and attention, the Tunisians,Yemenis and Egyptians had Iraqi Shia support and world wide media attention. Its only Bahrain that is being ignored and their monarchy is supported by the west. If anything your article should have been directed at the Sunnis to show support for Bahrain because the Bahraini situation is dire and the peaceful people have shown the most civility with barely any media coverage.
